hi guys...

with the new TR base in melbourne, has anyone considered trying for their melbourne- based crew? i plan to go there for my postgrad and if the pay is reasonable (1.5K for SGD (from what i've read/ heard), so maybe AUD1.3ish?) for the melb- based crew i don't mind considering... it'll be good to be able to work there for a bit before i start my postgrad.

anyone has any info, news, etc about this new development? or planning to apply?

Just some info abt tiger.

pay indeed low
no crew meal (haf to bring along own food)
no transport allowance (report as early as 6am, return flt as late as 3am)
sector allowance pathetic low
transit>> haf to do cleaning, clear cabin, pick up trash(meaning no auntie cleaner to do it)

Going to darwin is not a big deal, wont get to see the plc, oli see the airport..and at the end of it, you be so tired..

BUT if you realli wanna try for cabin crew experience, can consider la..but there is a one yr bond and if you were to leave within that period, you haf to pay a certain amount.

FYI
tigress
It is one year only? I ask the guy during interview. Even when i do to take the intership, i still have to freeze my 5k in account and have 3 years contract wo..
Does the amount reduces as you stay longer in the airline?
thanx

Angel

umm no, they don't fly to melbourne at all, only darwin and perth. they just revealed their new base in melbourne and are recruiting pilots, cabin crews, etc for their base there.

congrats angelleo. hmm~ yup. e pay is real low but IF u realli like e job, u can consider. e contract is 3yrs. i think only for those BEFORE Sass atlantic intake only hv a yr bond. IF intake from Sass, it will be 3yrs.

ya. no matter internship or direct intake, u still need to put a MIN of 5K (direct) in ur bank.

oh.. havin base in Mel so will SG crews get to fly to Mel?
Jetstar will hv one overnite stay in Aust IF u get e flight there.

By the way, just want to inform you all that today Straits Times just
advertise it one more time again for TigerAir Internship. Seems like
last week (saturday) not many peoples going or there are not so more
peoples attending for the interview of internship.

Thats why they are recruiting again and really needs a lot of crews.
Thats just my opinions only. Maybe its not the true. But its seems to
me that not many peoples are interested about this internship thing.
Even if they like, but how to pay so much and where to get so much
money from? Right? Everybody agree of what i say?

Based on what I know abt Aussie employment laws, Melb based crew will most likely have to be Australians or PRs. Otherwise, TR will have to sponsor your PR which will be quite unlikely cos its expensive.
Me wanna fly high!

I didn't know you needed to be a PR to work in Australia. i thought what was needed was a work permit/employment pass which is what most get when they're based overseas.

If this is true though then the ad they put up on their website should state
only " Australian PR'S / Citizens need apply ".

Seeing as this is a low cost carrier though i may be wrong. *shrug*
just my 2 cents :)

I think you may find Singapore is the only country which grants anybody 'PR' status.

yup, as stated on their site, its "right to live and work in Australia", which is not the same as having a PR status... i.e. a worker's visa would suffice.

but like i said, its still a new thing and it's all quite unclear. maybe TR will shed more light on it with time to come.
