hi ironlady!
Jetstarasia and tiger airways has alots of differences. the only similar thing they have in common is both are low cost carrier. that's it!! Jetstarasia is operating in T1 and it has their own chek-in counters and also have aerobridges and passengers can enjoy the T1 paradise. The inflight entertainments are good compared to TG coz it has DVD rentals and different meals offered depending on destination. Jetstarasia assign seats to passengers unlike TG where they do not assign seats and people rushing in to the cabin and by the time they look for a seat they delay the time for take off. Most of the time passengers with kids and senior citizens keep looking out for the wing seat coz it has more legroom. but the procedure is only passengers who are above 16 are allowed to seat there. And if we don't let them seat they will argue and quarrel and cause delay. and many passengers with big family have to be seated seperately throughout the journey. But for jetstarasia the ground staff assign seats to the passengers at the correct place and has good and smooth opertion and does not cause unwanted delays. The uniform is great for jetstarasia and atleast it provides transport above 11pm as what i had heard. And if i am not wrong they provide the company cabin bags for the crew. For TG The uniform worn by the ground crew an cabin crew is exactly the same and has no difference at all. we have to buy our own bags which is quite ex! Anywhere i still prefer jetstarasia coz i don't ave to hear passengers grumbling about BT with limited facilities and unsheletered tarmac and 100 meters walk to the aircraft. i don't mind handling difficult pax but working in T1 makes my feeling great and motivating to go to work. thats why i am now trying for jetstarasia. if i can get thru i will give my very best. i don't ming low pay but i we can do good sales we can get good commision. always hope for the best.

And guys don't be demotivated by whatever i hav aid about TG. Anyway TG is also improving and there is always hope for the basic salary to rise and in the near future they might provide transport if they are doing well. keep your hope with you. don't let it slip!!

hope my infos were helpful!!!

Anyway, the 19yr old gal who was together wif us has nt been selected for 2nd interview..she's kinda disappointed.

As for wat my hb's ex colleague mentioned was juz being the pay very low(as flight sales nt say very gd) and benefits not good as compared to others lor...she mentioned if wan go for silkair instead.

Maybe the ex-tigerair crew here can enlighten me if there'll be any basic salary increment, or profit-sharing bonus, or AWS for cabin crew? I forgotten to ask abt tat during my 2nd.

YES! your hubby's x colleague is rite..the pay is damn pathetic low..no transport u must know tat..now u cant see the roster yet so u dun realli mind but once start flying..you will know wat i mean.
Benefits and welfare NO good..das the reason why many crew left for other airlines. there is no crew mea and we have to bringour own food..i have been eating instant noodles till I grow so sick of it..puke at the sight of it!! So far, I have not heard of any increment right from the start from the pioneer batch. Pls note that there is no AWS, bonus or anything!! and even the insurance like in case of disaster, its not listed down properly..Annie will just say we are covered under 1 million but its not stated down anywhere! Pls try go for silkair if can..and also if you are currently holding a reasonablepay, pls do consider properly as I mentioned b4..alot of my batch gals regret and stuck coz of the bond!

not trying to pour cold water here lah!

What on earth would you expect it's a budget airline?

Plavt.

Plavt, you just dun understand it. here i am trying to send my message across wat they WOULD BE expecting from a budget airline. I am sure tat you have been telling Matt10 in other discussion that not to let the gals to have false hope by telling the gals tat their height below 158cm is accepted. same here..as I have mentioned I am not trying to pour cold water here..this is wat they would expect from a budget airline! If ring's hubby ex-col can says tat TG is not advisable to join, it shows that it is really not worth joining isnt it! do you get it?
So far, no ex crew gals here has given any possible remarks abt TG at all and all those hopes on "transport and crew meal" topic has been going on in TG since TG started in sept 04. We might be getting 2.3k gross for a month and after CPF, we might be getting 1.8k but tat does not include meal and transport. so end of the day, we are getting erm 1k?

well anyway dun think you will understand coz you are not inside the situation. I am trying to paint the real situation they will be getting once they step in. Experience is one thing but think abt it, is it worth risking your live up there in the sky for just a mere 1k of salary?

For your information I do understand, the whole ethos of budget carries is cost which means neither crew nor passengers will receive the perquisites they are used to in past years. The only way this is possible would be to pass the cost on to the consumer which would defeat the object.

I presume you meant to say 'positive' remarks which is their (the cabin crew's) own problem since they should weigh up the situation before joining. The fact that I am not inside the situation is irrelevant since their is enough information available to plan ones application in advance which few people here bother to do. Anybody with any sense should realize when you earn a wage there are going to be expenses, not least those you list and should work things out in advance. In addition budget airlines have existed in the UK far longer than in Asia and we have more than enough television programs in which they feature.

What you may not know is that cabin crews here make their own way to and from the airport in uniform by bus, tube, train and car. Those who want the additional facilities in Singapore should join SIA but note they may not provide them much longer.

I find it rather hypocritical to take a job with a budget airline which people know is going to pay less and then start moaning about meal and transport allowances. Competition means reduction in cost which means employers will no longer pay for privileges if you dislike the idea then find a job that is more to your liking.

Plavt.

Ps:
If ring's hubby ex-col can says tat TG is not advisable to join, it shows that it is really not worth joining isnt it!
Could you explain this as it does not make sense?

Hi Ladies,

Here are my thoughts ever since I joined Tiger.
I came to Tiger to seek experienced cause' I am really young
[19 years old only]. I want to explore the world of being a flight stewardess.

Even thou, the pay is not up to my expectation. I couldn't expect more from a newly set-up company. Plus it's a budget airline. But the environment is good and I like the people. I just work hard and I earned.
The least I bring home is 1.5k [which is not good, I know].
Even thou, Tiger doesn't go to many destinations but it does have a potential behind this company. It have been growing and they are recruiting more cabin crew. [Which is a good news to me].

When the first time I joined Tiger, I have a hard time to cope with the surroundings cause there's too much gossips and rumours. But I learnt to deal with it. Cause working with woman is as thou I am working with monsters.

For those who went to Tiger Airways interview, I would say it's a good opportunity for a stepping stone. Don't be stress when it comes to senior screaming at you. [Cause it's normal].

Hi,
I don't think you get me at all. I am just putting my thought about joining Tiger Airways. I did say it is a stepping stone and I did say about Tiger Airways not going to many destinations. And definitely, it is not about exploring the country or different people or different cultures. I am talking about exploring how the job scope like. ;)

Then why did you joined LCC and fly regional and most are turarounds?
Why don't you go for SIA, Emirates, Qatar, Gulf?

To get 'a foot in the door' and get some experience not all applications to major carriers are successful.
