I'm arriving soon in Singapore from Hong Kong. Someone in Singapore told us that since the salaries paid to maids are lower in Singapore than in Hong Kong, the quality of the maids is also lower - that the better ones can get jobs in higher-paying Hong Kong. Does anyone have a feel for whether this is right or not? It sounds reasonable on the one hand, and yet also seems impossible to generalize across so many people.
