if you know where i can get a full set desktop (minimum P2 is all i pray for), please let me know. from what i've been seeing at ebay.com.sg, auctions.yahoo.com, vrforum and hardwarezone, it's either the system unit without the monitor or keyboard or mouse...

the system unit alone usually already costs $150? ;(

i was thinking a P2 laptop will be so much cheaper? i don't have anything yet (might be true for other aspects of my life, but that's another story hehe)...

Depends entirely on your needs... A new laptop can be as low as SGD 1200, but you're not going to get cutting-edge performance.

After 6 to 9 months of operation, even your 3000 $ laptops will have a problem. There is just that much shit flying through the internet these days, and applications are getting bigger and bigger, but not better!

With all the security running in the background, for spyware and viruses, it doesn't take much to bottleneck the best P4 on the market!

Problems besides the computers are also a pain, routers and booster in the backbone are not always optimised. Taiwan is super fast to Singapore, god knows what the problems are here in Singapore.

But I do presume that technology advancement is all about market saturation before moving on, bloody frustrating at times!!

ASUS is without a doubt very strong and sturdy, I can recommend them, after i tested mine to the limits, it still works.
