Absolutely right . . . 1/32nd is easy enough to hide - try being half German and living in Holland for a few years . . . The ugly side of xenophobia, especially when one takes into account that Germans and Dutch are genetically almost identical . . .

Had an American colleague, worked in Germany, we hired him and he had German license plates for about 1 month - his car was broken into, wipers ripped off, windows smashed, tyres slashed . . .

Then, being half French . . . Oh well, we all have our problems

Mein Deutsch ist fast gleich wie mein Hollaendisch, als Kind habe ich 5 Jahren in Deutschland gewohnt und bis heute komme ich noch regelmaessig in Deutschland, weil mein Schwester dort lebt. Und auch geschaeftlich bin ich noch oft da, in Stuttgart habe ich Kunden.

ps. vaucluse, yep, it is really ugly, the way Germans are being treated by the Dutch. The thing is, the other way around, the Germans behave much better in their contacts with the Dutch, you would never have this ugly behaviour when driving a Dutch car in Germany.
