Relocation advice

Post by Joe Simons » Sat, 13 Aug 2005 4:15 pm

Hi

I'm a British graduate leaving to seek employment in Singapore.
I have read the ICA and MOM's guidelines on entering the country and obtaining an extended SVP or employment pass.
I have all I think I will need; A return ticket for 4 months after I enter the country, some savings (about s$4000), travel documents, exam results certificates.
I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on a) getting into the country and b) getting an extension to my SVP?
As I say, I have read all the official requirements etc, I was just wondering if anyone who has been through the system had any advice.
I have had a search through the forum, and couldnt find anything specifically on this topic.

Thanks in advance
Joe

EDIT: Apologies, forgot to mention I will be staying with friends, and will of course have their address.

Joe, when you arrive, you will get the 30 days without Visa, do not say that you are going to look for work! I assume it would go against you, becuase normally Singaporeans come first for jobs. Think you may have a problem with the SVP unless you have close family here. But ater your 30 days , a trip to the border, may get you another 14 days. but remember they are wise to what goes on, many people want to get in here.

Best of luck,
