Thanks all.. I tried all the searches but there are only limited pics of the villa - as in the extriors and living room only, not the bedrooms. It is really BANYA BIRU villas managed by Nirwana Gardens I am looking for. So if ANYONE has been there, please drop a line or 2 on how you feel about the place.

OK, this might seem a silly question to many of you, but bear with me as I am a first-time expat and not a very 'seasoned' traveller. Since Bintan is part of Indonesia and there have been some anti-Western terrorism occurances there, is it 'safe' for Westerners to travel there?

Bintan is a part of Indonesia. Bintan Resorts to the north of the island, however -- which contains all the resorts in Bintan -- is Singapore in all but the flag at the jetty; it's owned and operated by a Singaporean company, uses Singaporean currency, has Singaporean-standard roads, power, water and other utilities, and is fenced off from the rest of the island by guarded checkpoints. Unsurprisingly all the guests are also Singaporean and so are the prices...

ok, thanks for the pointer kk, been to the website and am getting only a very superficial feel of the villa, which is cheaper than the Indra Maya... anyway, for mm, if this is your first time living in SG, then you should consider visiting Bintan if only you wany to getaway to a quieter place with nice clear water to swim in. Batam is more rowdy and run down. Men go there for a different purpose - could be go-karting, cable ski or to meet lots of "professional women"

Banyu Biru Bintan Villas

Post by farnho » Thu, 29 Jul 2004 12:10 pm

Hi, for info - Banyu Biru Bintan Villas are actually owned by different companies (its built and operated by Nirwana Gardens Resort but majority are sold to companies who use them as holiday accommodations for staff, etc). Some companies open their Villas for rental by the general public and usually charge a lower price. There's no difference in service whether you rent direct from Nirwana Resort or these companies as the maintenance and service is still contracted under the resort - actually you have more freedom as company-owners tend to be more understanding.

Our company owns a few of the 3-bedroom Suria-type units and they're available for rental to the general public. Check out our website at www.signature-suites.com.

As such, on your question of interior decor and furnishings, they'd differ according to which company you rent it from (the resort has one style, other companies may opt to furnish it differently). Signature Suites style can be seen in the picture gallery on our website.

Hope that helps. Cheers .......... :D

Hi Farnho,

Thanks very much for the mail which is very bery helpful. I know now where to go to make the bookings. If it is not too much of a trouble, could you let me know how many villas your company owns there? I may need up to 10 vills for a gathering and am scouting for ideas.

Hi Travel

Try Manamana - it's basic but everything you need - especially for a big group of you - chilled out and resonably priced (about $90 a room a night at the weekend including breakfast), I have been with my boyfriend and a group of friends.

Check on google (but I think it it www.manamana.com) - you'll find the website - warning, it's popular and gets booked sometimes weeks in advance.....

:o)

Banyu Biru Villas

Post by farnho » Fri, 06 Aug 2004 2:59 pm

Hi Travel,

Sorry - the only company I know who owns that many is the resort itself (Nirwana Gardens)(I understand they have about 12). Majority of other companies own 3-4 but they're usually very popular (esp. long weekends and holidays) because they're well-priced.

The 2-bedroom villas can take up to 6, the 3-bedroomers up to 9 and 4-bedroomers up to 12 persons so you'd have to be looking at housing close to 100 people if you're keen on 12 Villas!! In that case, I'd advise you speak with Nirwana Gardens Resort directly and negotiate a substantial discount.

PS: There are 5 developments within the Nirwana Gardens Resort of which Banyu Biru Villas and Mana Mana are part of. They're located on the same piece of land and users of any of these 5 developments can use facilities through the Resort (even at other developments). Walk from one end of Resort to other is at most 45 mins. In terms of standard, I'd say Indra Maya Villas is 5-star, Banyu Biru Villas and Nirwana Hotel is 4-star, Mayang Sari is 3-star and Mana Mana is mainly for backpackers and sea-sports fanatics (2-2.5 stars). Depends on what you want.

Cheers.

I stayed at Banya Biru about 2 years ago and had a great time. My friend just wen there with her family last weekend and also thought it was great. What's good about it is you ahve your own villa which has another big pool with a slide- great for kids. This is quiet but you can just walk 2 mins along the beach and you arrive at nirwana Gardens with big pool etc etc.

I'd certainly recommend it! Hope you have fun!
