I hate guitars at parties

Postby Shilo » Sun, 07 Aug 2005 3:06 pm

I’m not musical.
I never was.
I always found people that took guitars out and started singing at parties very annoying.
It can become uncomfortable.
Look at me, I’m playing the guitar and singing, now everyone shut up and pull up a chair, where going to have a sing along weather you want to or not.
I mean sure, it would be different if you where Tom Jones or Kirt Cobain but for gods sakes, its always your Aunty Noreen or your wife’s wacky beat nic sister.
I mean for gods sakes people, isn’t this why they invented recorded music ?

The only people that annoy me more are the sheep that add the fuel to the fire with their clapping swaying and hippy harmonics.

well, that someone playing his guitar might just wanna charm someone with his music and singing. so let him be. it's his life after all. we? if we don't like can always take a stroll somewhere and come back later. if he can sing for hours, so be it. keke

Agreed... The person in question just wants to be the centre of attention. Next time it happens request classical gas in B minor. That will shut them up or just smash the guitar in their face.

Either way...

No, you are not alone. Worse still, I think, my son's teacher would play little things on the guitar in the classroom. Some kids liked it, some would go off the deep end because of it. But the teacher thought it was entertainment. :

well Shilo, if you are speaking strictly about Singapore, where the music tends to be that predictable mind-numblingly middle of the road boring Top-40 sameoldshitwhereeveryougo crap that is so, so, so, so (do I say 'so' enough times yet?) pervasive here, and then having to be innudated with it while at a party or bar, then yeah, getting pretty tired of that

if it's good music and good performers, then I dig seeing that anytime

Lol @ Matney.
I relate to that.
I remember we had this weired music teacher that used to do the "ta, ta tay ta" thing if that makes sence.
I never got that.
And Guest. Agreed.
