...and wonder if anyone can help me on the best way to apply for a visa. My boyfriend will have an 2 or 3 year expat package and, we believe, an Employment Pass to work in the Singapore office of his current employers here in London. As we are not married (although we are living together), I cannot apply as a Dependent, but we are hoping I can apply for a Long-term Social Visit Pass, or something similar, that will enable me to move with him and seek work once I am there (and hope to find a local sponsor). Alternatively I could apply independently of my boyfriend's visa, but I would expect that to be harder.
Can anybody give us any advice on what would be the best option? We will be discussing it with my boyfriend's HR department when he has to obtain his visa (the job is scheduled to begin at the beginning of next year) but would be grateful for any suggestions before then, as presumably other non-married people would have also been in this situation.
Thank you!

I don't want to seem to be nit-picky but what I just did you could have done just as easily. Searched the previous threads to see if the problem has been tackled before. It's very few that have a unique problem. That said, I have done some of your legwork and it's up to you to do the rest. Read the following thread and links:

Good Luck & hope it goes smoothly.

Clara,
you can probably apply for a Long Term social visit pass with validity of 6 months or more. YOu can refer to the ICA website on the explanatory notes for applying Extension of Social Visit pass. You need to complete the application form, highest academic educational certicificate, Travel document and local sponsor's identity card. Oh yes, I was told by the Officer that the minimum academic qualification for the Long Term social visit pass is Bachelor Degree.
hope it helps.

What joyful mentioned is the procedures for LTSVP application and SVP extention with a local sponsor which is completely different from LTSVP applications with both parties being foreigners.
I went through the same process as 'same' in the link sundaymorningstaple posted and work for me as well - all the best!

I hadnt actually checked the posts again (having looked previously and found nothing quite so specifically relevant) so was being a bit slack! Thanks for the link though, sundaymorningstaple. I am just concerned that I won't get my visa for some reason as it seems to be quite difficult. I don't yet have a batchelors degree, although am 5 years through a 6 year course with the Open University to get one, so all being well I will have next year.
