retail sales person pay?

hi there,
we are thinking to hire a sales person to tend for our pushcart, we would like to give a lower monthly salary pay but with a higher commission rates.
can anybody tell us whats the current market rate? i understand that some shops pay $5 per hour for part-time staff.
