Post by Guest » Mon, 01 Aug 2005 9:12 am

Dear all,
we are planning to start-up our business, and we would like to set up our website soon. Does any of you have a recommendation of a good and affordable web-hosting company? it could be hosted in the states or any other country. Our site would be a .com website, hope can get some good recommendation here....

thanks in advance for your replies....

I find that hosting here is bloody expensive here in Singapore

I tried to get a provider to supply me with enough broadband to stream video and host our Citrix solution at a proper speed, but the pricing to host it locally was way too high (one arm and a leg).

Now im using a European provider and got it 75% cheaper than the local guys, and still with a possibility to stream at 300+k locally.

Is there not enough local competition or ??

bumping this thread up as i'm looking at affordable webhosting.
I'll use Youtube/photobucket to hotlink the pictures to save on bandwidth.

So basically it'll be mostly text.

I need one that is speedy and reliable and easy to use - i'm going to use wordpress, any recommendations?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I am a long time user of www.interxstream.com. Very good prices, very good service, very good uptime. Linux only.

If you want local service then I recommend Netsarius at www.netsarius.com. Windows and Linux. Less experience but very good uptime, very good prices, and excellent service.

Depending on who will be reading your website, (SG local or other), you might want to select your server on that basis.

BodyBlitz - if it's WordPress only, why not WordPresses own servers?

Just an idea.

To who was asking about Euro servers - some of our stuff is with servage.net Very happy with them, but as SE rightly pointed out, if you need local high-bandwidth, choose a local provider. Having seen SE over these forums for a while now I'm pretty sure their suggestions would be fine.

well basically i would need to add in some e-shop and i need to updated content regularly.

It won't be a conventional static webpage, it'll be a cross of this -
http://ryanlee.com/ and this - http://www.jonnybowden.com/

I'm leaning more towards Jonnybowden though.. so a wordpress by itself won't really cut it.

Then i'm looking to expand by adding in more domains later on, the www.interxstream.com doesn't seem to state how many domains i can have..

It depends upon the package... from one domain to unlimited (reseller) packages.
