to have or not to have plastic surgery....?

Post by broke and worried » Fri, 29 Jul 2005 2:16 pm

Hi everyone, I was seriously thinking of having plastic surgery done on my eyes and/or nose and/or breasts.... I have a consultation with Dr Wu in August... now after reading all the posts (yes I spent the whole night reading them!! :D) I'm pretty scared that I wouuld end up disfigured! And the prices scare me (I would have to spend my whole life savings!).

I'm wondering if I should even bother going for the consultation... or if I should go to Dr Huang instead....go to Korea/Thailand, or Australia or not do anything altogether. I have been pretty depressed and have been going through a really hard time for the past year and a half and was thinking of having the breast augmentation to lift my morale (I'm a 32A and have always felt inadequate as I am unproportate) or eye surgery as I have small droopy eyes that make me appear like I'm constantly tired! Plus my nose is flate and wide.. sigh...

Do anyone have any advice to give?

Hi broke and wooied..

Why look down on yourself? As you have mention... the cost of the surgery is going to cost your life saving!!! It is worth doing it... And worst still you dont even have confidence that after the surgery will make you look better...

Yes evryone want to look beauitful.. Not unless you have the confidence that the surgery is very successful..

Be more confidence of yourself and bring the beauty out of it.

Hi Broke & Worried,

personally i feel if you really have been depress about your looks for so long already, you should really do something about it. You might consider to do one thing at a time, do your eyelid surgery first as this is one of the cheapest among the other surgery u r planning to do, start slow, if you just go ahead n dump all your savings at one shot, n do everything in one shot, first thing u might want to consider is if people around you can accept a totally different you cause i need to tell you when you don't have double eyelid n when you have it, u'll actually look hell of a difference!! For me, i have double eyelid on my left eye, single on my left it actually bother me for many yrs cause my eyes look one big one small n its so obvious, used all sorts of methods to create ano double eyelid for my left eyes, tape, glue whatever it all looked un-natural finally one fine day i told myself i cannot take it anymore its so depressing, i just told myself i don't care just wanna do it whether it turn out ok or not it could just be my fate, i went for the surgery n now my eyes is balance oredi, both got eyelids. i'm more confident than b4 to dare to looked at people straight in the eyes, like you i had a lot of worries n money was a big concern i am 26 this yr i had the surgery done when i was 22 or 23 i was so desperate to get my eyes balance up i managed to get a friend to pay first n i slowly pay her bk which i've since did. No regrets till today, i was a bit rash then did not think so much abt the consequences n did not really went to find out the best surgeon to do it, luckily everything turn out fine. Actually its good to find out which surgeon can do a good job but again its always you luck n fate even if u go to the best surgeon if he tat day is tired or not in a good mood, he might not do a good job at all.

Elizabeth and KoKo03,

thanks for your posts! :)

Actually I have been depressed, not because of my looks, but because of uni and family problems...hence I am taking a little break from it all. I guess I wanted to have something done to make me feel better about myself as I am so emotionally down.

I know I am not ugly, but recently I have begun to lose confidence in my looks... I look alright with makeup on, but I feel insecure without it. As for my boobs..I have always wanted to have them done... since I was young but have been too afraid of the complications and the cost. Cost is a big factor as yes I don't want to spend all my money on it. I know there are cheaper places to have it done but I am worried that the places may not do a good job.

I guess I might consider doing my eyes and nose... but I wonder if I should go to Dr Wu or Dr Huang for the procedures. Maybe I should go for a consultation with both.

Girl,

I know what you mean. But please note that things like surgery should only be done when you are doing in a good, healthy frame of mind. I wouldnt recommend undergoing surgery when you are in depressed state because your frame of mind is not right. You need to fix that insecurity and self discontentment within first. Otherwise you will find that surgery is just not enough and there's always something else to fix.

Why not give yourself a time frame to think through it carefully, like 2 more years of careful contemplation. You do know, that breast implants do not last forever and have to be changed every 8-10 years. And even more so if there are complications in between.

I have seen photos of Dr. Wu's operations on nose. Frankly the people dont look much better and I wouldnt give them a 2nd glance even after the operation.

I am an insecure person and prone to depression myself. It is during those times I feel that my breasts are too small and I'm ugly and have bad skin etc etc. You know what, it's all really in the mind.

I just came back from a holiday in europe. It's amazing how you see people of all shapes and sizes carry themselves with such confidence. They are not afraid to bare their bodies even though they are fat, skinny, flat chested etc. I came back feeling so much more confident about myself and my looks.

i haven't said this before but if you need anyone to talk to or write to, anonymously you can email me at mayaray99AThotmailDOTcom

Natural is best, once we age, everything droops, the beauty is only superficial that will last you till maybe only 45-50 years old...or even less than that.

Dear Broke and Worried,

If you're doing plastic surgery because you're depressed, you should not consider Plastic surgery at this point of your life. Because Plastic surgery is not going to make you feel better for your university & family. :)

If you want to go for surgery in thailand under proper & skillful surgeons, i can give u advise; but u should be sure that you're emotionally stable.

Cheers!

Plastic surgery is well, obviously not cheap since they are done by surgeons. Surgery is not cheap!

save up money first and go to the best surgeon. You can't save on such things. I think woffles wu and martin huang are equally good, what do you guys think?

happen to come across this thread..if u really decided to do it,pls don't do ur uyes first if u're going to have a nose job done as well.go for the nose first bcos up to a certain extent it will stretch n change the way ur eyes look.depending on how high u want ur nose bridge to be.after the nose ,let it settle till when it looks more natural min 6 months then go for the eyes.
As for breast implants,u really have to think especially if u've not given birth..how bout breast feeding? It complicates n interferes with mammograms..wat if u have non cancerous lumps or cysts to remove?lumps in women r quite common nowadays.one more thing u have to consider is do u have reserve $ for revision jobs?boob jobs r not for a lifetime

dun mean to scare u

does anyone knows how eyes are being made bigger through plastic surgery? What is it called? Like how the recent "hot blogger" has her eyes done? I searched online for information but found nothing useful. Help will be deeply appreciated!

when u go for dbl eyelid surgery, it makes ur eyes bigger cuz they either stitch up ur upper eyelid or cut some excess fat on ur lids so ur eyes appear bigger
