Job Application Etiquette

Post by kansah » Fri, 29 Jul 2005 12:03 pm

Hi Everyone,

Got questions which I would really appreciate somebody answering:

1) Is it considered rude to call the HR of a company and ask updates regarding your application? You know, like did they receive the email sent and the chances of you getting the position applied for?

Thank you!

I don't hitnk it is bad etiquette at all to follow up. I would even say that it is something you should do as it displays attn to detail.

You shouldn't however pester them and call everyday, and don't ask whether you're going to get the job or not - if they can tell you something like that over the phone then it's likely that you haven't/can't get the job.

thanks, cyber monkey! I really appreciate your post.

It's just that, back home, I used to call companies and check if there are any updates on my application, just to check whether they have at least seen it or something, hehe
