The membership consultants tell you that you are joining the gym because your family member just died and you were too lazy to sign up before.
Do not believe the fees that the consultants offer you - they offered me $128 per month and withdrew that offer upon knowing that I am from a particular firm, quoting that my firm receives corporate rate, which is $138. When I questioned why is corporate rate more expensive than walk-in rate - they could not give me an answer. From what I gather, some of my colleagues joined that gym at $115 per month!!!
Nonetheless, they agreed to the fee of $128 per month if I have other friends joining as well (which I did). Just minutes away from signing up, I was told that I have to pay $138 per month. Pardon me if all these sound confusing, because I am truely confused by Fitness First too. Thay just waste your time and are not sincere in you joining their gym.
My bet - you are better off going to Planet Fitness Clubs or California Clubs. Do NOT join Fitness First!!!

I've heard horrific stories at Cali as well. They claimed 75% discount on joining fee and $58/month membership fee, but they didn't tell you the 75% discount was for the $500 (joining fee) Gold package with $150/month, and the $58/month was for the $700 (joining fee) Platinum package.
I'm not joining any of these big three. Enough of the horrific stories wanting to rip me off my hard-earned dollars. Dumbells are just dumbells. 30lbs dumbell is the same everywhere, and so are 100kg benchpress.
At the end of the day it's the amount of tissues you tore up, the number of reps and the adrenaline pumping...
SAFRA would have been nice, but membership only open for SAFRA members (which is only for NSmen), and the TERM membership is non-renewable :/
Crap.
I'm joining SSC gyms and pay up the 12-month daytime membership at S$90!

Hi Mr ,
As our term memberships are non-renewable, when your term membership
expires, your membership will end.
If you wish to continue using our EnergyOne gym, you would have to pau
our per entry "Day" rates.
Regards

yeah, agree ..
when i first joined cali they quoted me 100 over for monthly fee n 1000 for the membership fee.
I declined n it took quite some time til i got quite a good deal (I didn't even have to pay the membership fee)
even now as a member, they still try to ask you to convert to the lifetime membership - yes it'll be cheaper in the long run but I normally declined by saying I prefer paying monthly and sometimes u have to be a little bit direct/harsh to them

currently Im paying $48.
previously (6 yrs back) I paid $112, then when my firm had a deal with them, I switched to the corporate account which was ard $60.
Since my firm no longer had connection w/ cali, me n few of my colleagues went to meet their consultant n bargained for a special deal 'til they came out with the $48/month for individual.
but - actually I think Im paying less than that, as they deducted $51.45 from my bank account monthly which includes the $20 rent of shoe locker.

$31.45 is very, very cheap. Even cheaper BY FAR than MYR 175 I paid to Fitness First in Kuala Lumpur. Any other hidden fees, though? Annual fees/XYZ fees?
Can I be your friend and get that rate too? Serious!

This is at least the second time you've posted this thread on this forum and at least once on 'the other' forum.
You seem to forget that the 'consultants' are nothing more then salespeople and if you think that they are totally honest and up front all the time then you are more then naive, you're a fool.
Stop wasting our time and posting this rubbish and go and join a gym, any gym, just get that frutration out somewhere else.
