Without permission from MOM it is not going to happen at all.

Hi, just want to share with you people on my experience as I know alot of bros are in the same predicament as me. I just got the approval from MOM to marry my gf who was an ex work permit holder.Thank God! Before this, I went online to check and chance upon this forum. The replies were quite disheartening, as my gf is pregnant and my salary aint that high. But nonetheless, I still went on to apply for the approval and I got the approval in 2 weeks time (although they mention its 4 weeks). So piece of advice, do declare everything truthfully (ie if your gf is pregnant). If you show that you have a steady income, and your partner has no bad history (ie overstaying or have trouble with the law before), they are likely to grant the approval.

Ahmad : this may sound racist but here I go and please do not take it personal. Looking at the previous poster , I am betting that poster is NON MALAY whereas you are Malay going by your nick. If things at ICA and MOM did not change for the better, I think your chances are slim.
Malay is the underclass no matter how much the gahmen said that you guys have improved, it has not change one bit , The only thing change is the way it is being said and done.
The modus operandi is the same. Every department , Ministry and agencies . If only you guys can see it or not.

Hi Ahmad, not sure what happened to my previous post. Anyway I think income might be a factor in your case. You mentioned that you are earning near to 2k? I think most people feedback online that income of min 2.8k stands a higher chance. Also the education background of your gf would be another considerating factor. I am not sure whether race is an issue but yes as what MS said, I am Chinese. Anyway these are just my assumptions from what was required in the application form. No one really knows what MOM consider as criteria for the approval.

Yes , for his case, his salary did not meet the guideline and he is Malay and I am guessing he is marrying a Malaysian girl. This is all about quota against different ethnicity. It all adds up
There many cases that a non Malay with similar situation like yours that got approved and vice versa. I am opening a big can of worm here and I am willing to stake my head and proof me wrong.
If a Malay Singaporean girl marrying other than Malay husband to be the chances of it getting approve far greater than in his case, you get my drift.

Susah juga!! Peens WP has quite a colourful track record too. Ask your MP to write another letter, if your MP is a Minister will be better then bring letter plus all supporting docs to MOM and pray they approve your marriage

My had know my girlfriend for 2 years. She was here in January 2011 as a performing artist holding a work permit. But her stay here was short(last then 2 months). she had the permission from her then employer to resign from her job and go back to her country. she got her air ticket and got her passport chop for leaving sg. the thing is that she did not return her wp pass and bring it back with her. but thing is that she called her employer and get the pass mailed it back to her employer.

may i ask whether will that get her into trouble with the mom law as i know that we will need to seek permission from mom for her to marry me. i am worry that it will get rejected.

thanks in advance!

That will be the least of your problem. Dont worry about it.

Nope, no way to gain that information except by asking her.

Having doubts about what kind of 'performing artist' she was?
