Kindergartens vs. Child Care Centres

Post by N.C. » Wed, 20 Jul 2005 1:38 pm

Hi,

Could anyone give me an idea on what is the difference between kindergartens and child care centres? I have a 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 year old kids and I would want to give the best education to them.

We will be moving to Singapore by Aug. 15 and will be living in Avon Park - District 13. Is the curriculum better in a kindergarten setting? How long does a kindergarten operate, from what time to what time? Can anyone recommend a good preschool within this area?

Please help! Thanks a lot!

the curriculum for child care centre and kindergarten is almost the same. Most kindergarten operate in 2 seesion. Children will attend either the morning session that usually start at 9am or afternoon session that start at 12noon. each seesion last about 3 hours. As for child care centre, you can choose between half and full day care. For full day care, you can send your child in from 7am and pick them up at 7pm. The centre will provide 2 tea breaks and lunch for your child. They will bathe him in the afternoon and he will take a 2-3 hurs nap in between. There are quite a number of child care and kindergarten in your area.
