Comfort Food

Post by Spice Mistress » Sat, 16 Jul 2005 2:44 am

I thought it would be interesting to see what people define as comfort food and why. So what is your comfort food?

I will start off.

female, singapore
Mine is chocolate. Good quality chocolate.
It makes me feel good. Especially when I am tired, stressed or sad. I also enjoy eating it in solitude. The smoothness of the chocolate has a sensual calming effect on me too.
So do share what is comfort food for you. It would make an interesting thread to see how it differs with people from different parts of the world.

Don't forget to mention the country you were raised.

Chocolate is known to make people (especially women) feel good and even is considered an aphrodisiac.

There is several substances in chocolate which are said to make you feel like you are in love, you feel excited or better said "horny".

The most impotant one is fenylethylamine, which is a chemical that will tell our brain to get excited. There is certain "pleasure-centres" in our brains, those are being stimulated by this fenylethylamine. Women are said to be more sensitive to this than men.

Fenylethylamine stimulates feelings of attraction, excitement, euphoria, but also dizzyness. Orgasm is said to be more intense with this substance :!:

Now for myself:

I have cravings for candy, I mean the Dutch ones: "drop", which luckily is available here at Jason's supermarkets. It is the black candy, I prefer the "boerderijdrop", the "dubbelzoute drop" and the "muntdropjes". It is said to not eat more than 30gr of this at once, but if I start, I will easily finish a 500gr bag, which makes me feel incredibly giddy after an hour or two. But still.... I keep eating it once in a while.

Mines a hazelnut latte from Starbucks. Pulls me out of the dumps on bad days......

Second runner up is chocolate, but its becoming rare that I eat it these days.

Hey Eric, are talking about those little liquorice (sp?) gum drops? My ex brought some back from Holland for me once. I'd eat them incessantly....they're SO addictive!
And the sultans - yeah the sultans
