Social Worker jobs in Singapore?
Social Worker jobs in Singapore?
Hi,
I am a recently-arrived Expat working in Singapore in a seemly common predicament: having a wife on a Dependent's Pass who is desperate to find some sort of work.
My wife has a background in Social Work and is of Eastern European origin. She is degree-qualified and has almost 5 years experience as a Social Worker, specialising in caring for victims of human trafficking and illegal immigrants (in Eastern Europe).
Unfortunately, while South-East Asia would seem the perfect place for working in this particular field, as a highly developed country Singapore does not seem to have a great demand for social workers with these particular skills.
I have be scouring the Internet for any useful information about social work in Singapore and while there seems to be plenty of volunteer opportunities in this field, actual paid jobs are very difficult to find (and that is the main thing that will keep my wife happy and in Singapore with me!)
Is there anybody who could recommend any useful resources (apart from the scattering of expat web sites) or have any contacts in the social work industry here in Singapore? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pieter
