how much can i save out of my salary

Hi

I am a IT professional from India. I have an offer of S$3500/month from a company for a contract job(one year). I am not sure about the living expenses out there in Singapore and need your help sincerely to understand what I can save out of this offer.

The company will not be providing me accommodation. I am single and prefer only Vegetarian food. I would like to explore both options as staying alone (one room+kitchen) or in a shared flat (2-3 people).

Also suggest me if I have to look for any particular things when accepting contract jobs in Singapore. Any help is highly appreciated.

$3500 is not much but if you are single you can get by. I agree with you - you will have to share an apt or stay in an HDB. this is government housing buildings and is cheaper than condos. The apts are actually not bad and are usually around a MRT station. A one bedroom HDB starts at around $600.

Singapore is great for cheap food. You can get food from hawker stalls at only $3.50. There are vegetarian food outlets as well.

Basically, how much you will save will depend on your lifestyle but it will not be much.
