Academic Year for Primary School in Singapore

Post by Srini » Mon, 05 Jul 2004 10:22 am

Hi,

We are planning to move from the US to Singapore. In the state where we reside, the state-funded elementary schools generally have a start to finish cycle from August to May. I wish to know when the academic year for primary (state-funded) schools begin & end in Singapore ?

Regards,
Srini

What age does primary begin

At what age does a child enter primary? MOE's website assumes that you know this because I sure can't find it. :) Can a child enter early if they are more advanced?

Thanks

The first year of primary school (P1) is the year that a child turns seven. They take classes on a calendar year, so next years P1 class are all children born in 1999. I don't imagine they will budge at all on this.
