Question on salary / package... is this reasonable?

Hello,

Have been offered a job for S$225K/annum, with 20% bonus on top and health care benefits (but no housing etc...).

I'm coming with my wife, no kid and she won't have a job when we arrive.

Whilst this seems reasonable, I'm wondering what kind of lifestyle this allows...

Cost of car seems very high but factoring this, it looks like we would have:

Housing + utilities + maid = S$5000
Car (rental, good idea??) = S$2500
Which leaves for food + all extras = S$8500

Any thoughts would help indeed. Thanks

Maybe I should have added that this is for a move from Europe so am somewhat comparing to my current package... so of course, S$225K IS reasonable for many, not my point, trying to assess what lifestyle this can procure.

Seriously, $80k/year gets you in the top 10% income bracket, and you're almost triple that.

Fully agree with jpatokal and that was the reason for my questions. That's really a good package. Enjoy while you are here, so local industry can also benefit.

Is this really true, especially with posts I read on this forum which say that the average expat salary is $30K per month (data gathered from surveys) ?

If that was the case then the OP's salary would be below average ???

Studying the real estate section of this web-site and the classifieds in Straits Times I discovered that one could easily spend S$80K a year on housing alone.

I’m just amazed that S$80K a year will be enough to put you in the top 10% income bracket. From where have you obtained this information?
