How to access the settings of a Linksys Wireless Router

Post by airhead » Thu, 14 Jul 2005 1:42 pm

I just moved house and realised I might have discarded the documentation for my Linksys Wireless Router.

It's still working fine but I had set the security level to only allow my laptop to "see it". Now, I would like to allow a second laptop to detect and use the signals.

I remember typing in an IP address to go to a website where I can modify settings for the router. Since I haven't got the manual to show me how to do it, can anyone please help me? Is there a way to find out this address/IP from the settings in my laptop?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You must have a hard wire connection to your router. Start up Internet Explorer. Type http://192.168.1.1 You should get the password menu. Unless you changed the settings, there is no user name (tab to the password) and enter a password of Admin. That should get you to all the settings.

If you cannot remember your password, or you simply want to reset your router to the native state (DHCP, no enryptions, etc), the with the power on, press and hold the small reset button on the back of the machine for 10 seconds. Router will revert to native state.
