Just a quick comment to your point b).
Salsa is supposed to get intimate physically 8) . If you don’t like to get that close to a dance partner then you should try out square dance instead

Not that I unaware of it, and not that i mind either
However, there are always two possibilities in a class a) Cute/handsome partner b) Less bearable partner (stinky/too big/sweaty/smelly breath etc..) Both scenarios will take your mind off to something else!!

It's mostly Cuban or LA style Salsa (on-1) over here, and Merengue too
The best spot is still
