I am an Indian national who has recently relocated to Singapore from Tokyo. I have an Indian and Japanese drivers license. Can I get one of them, preferably the Indian one, converted to a Singaporean drivers license?
Or would I have to go through the normal route - written test, driving test etc?
Many thanks,
Aditya

Hi Aditya,
How long do you intend to stay in Singapore? If more than 12 months, you need to convert to local licence within 12 months since your arrival. If you have an International Driving Licence, you just need to take a theory test and once you pass the test, go to Traffic Police with your Internation Driving Licence and you will be able to convert to local licence.

Thanks!
I would be here for more than 12 months. I hope I would be able to convert my local license to a Singaporean one.

Aditya,
Should be no problem - but must pass the theory test first.
All the best
Thanks and regards

Hi Aditya,
Although it said that it is a convertion of license, actually they will issue a new Singapore driving license to you after you passed the theroy test. They won't use your Indian or Japanese driver license to convert it.
