Hey ppl, having a headache here because I have rent a place which is actually a territories for hornet, lizards, ants, crocroaches and unknown incents but i still have half a year before the contract ends but it is such a terror to living like a cave man's life because i am a female. What is even worst is that the landlord is simply a irresponsible person because in one way and another she caused some problems in the house. All i want to do is to move out but well suck with the contract and deposit ...... anyone even had such problem??? please don't use cruel words ....

Go over your tenancy agreement. There should be a clause or clauses stating whose duty it is to maintain the house in an acceptable live-in condition and conditions under which you can terminate your contract.

I'd suggest handling the issue in a friendly way, if you've got some months' deposit placed with your landlord. I had a run in with a lawyer landlord and the j**k just deducted $1K off my deposit for a supposed spider's web in the storeroom (one week after handover, mind you, it wasn't there when I handed the place over to his agent) and replacing a set of see-through curtains in one of the rooms (again, the supposed fault was not an issue during hand over). He refused to give receipts for the replacement, knowing it was going to be a hassle for me to go to small claims court to get the $ back. I offered to replace the curtain and I had the right to do this under the tenancy agreement but the fella flatly refused. That was the first and last time I ever rented a place owned by a lawyer.

Lizards and ants you will find in every apt and house in Singapore. If you are having huge problems with insects (especially cockroaches) go over your lease and call a fumigator.

First of all, you need to tell us if you are in an apartment or in a house.
Apartment: Generally, you will have some Management committee that deals with the apartment block. That's one place to go.
House: IF you have helpful neighbours, that will help a lot.
IF you rented a room, then I think your problem is harder to tackle.
IF you are in HDB, then you can always complain to Big Brother.

Hornets: Get a Brave friend to destroy the nest. Burn incense regularly. See if that helps.
Roaches: I don't have experience with roaches because my cats attacks the roaches.

Take care.
