He filled out Form 4A - so where does that leave us?

I checked my e-mail and I noticed I received a reply from the ICA back in March stating that he was liable for NS...but then they told me to dbl chcek with MINDEF! I called MIDEF soon after but they were not too sure themselves! I have not received any confirmation since then........,...Again as nge said she has said that some first generation PRs have to serve NS.......I think it is because the govt only recently allowed women to sponsor their husbands that this confusion has arisen.

Hi votentia,

i think u have misunderstood me. I have mentioned I din come across is actually meaning (short-form) did not.

If your hubby filed Form 4A, it should be under PTS....so WATS HAPPENED?? Your hubby never work in Singapore, how come is under Form 4A?? really dont' understand...

You are right that only recently our government allow the husband to apply SPR under the Singaporean wife....

Another thing I do not understand also, ICA wrote you an email!!!
I thought all correspondences goes thru mail...maybe becos you are staying overseas

Now, I suddenly remember that my hubby also received a letter from ICA regarding the NS matter after he becomes SPR. I can't remember what is the content inside the letter. But later, I called ICA to verify again. They told me the same thing that my hubby is under the first generation so don't need to serve NS. After that we just ignore the matter...

I am a malaysian (male) having a S'porean wife, would like to apply for PR in Singapore. I would like everyone out there to give me some advice regarding the steps of becoming a PR. I am currently staying with my parent-in-law in singapore with a long term social visit pass but working in malaysia, what is the 1st step to become a PR? Eg. Finding a job in Singapore 1st and apply thru Professionals/Technical Personnel and Skilled Workers Scheme? Or i can apply thru Spouse of a Singapore citizen? My wife is working in Singapore with a so-so salary too. We are planing a baby in year 2007, will that help in the application?

MINDEF has finally given me an answer after the ICA shrugged me off. They said that my British husband will not need to serve NS once he gets his PR - but he will still have to register with MINDEF for for 'administrative' purposes. All our male children are liable though................
