Singapore Citizenship

Post by SingAussie » Fri, 01 Jul 2005 5:32 pm

Dear All

Can anyone answer my this question?

I born in Singapore, left Singapore at the age of 10 to Australia. I renewed my passport when it was expired when I was 10 year old but I did not apply for the NRIC.

If I request for deferment at the age of 16.5, can I renounce my Sing Citizenship at the age of 21 and not to serve NS?

Thanks

You're better off posing that question to MINDEF, since they're the authoritative body on NS matters. From what I know, you should not have a problem renouncing SG citizenship since you left before you turned 11.

Dear SingAussie
Are your parents aware of what you are trying to acheive here?
just a thought..that your need to speak to your parents..and get them into the picture. Hopefully, you will eventually work thro it and acheive a good outcome. All the best
