Disappointed

Post by Pink Mermaid » Thu, 14 Jul 2005 8:47 pm

Thanks goh.
Anw, I got the reply from Jetstar and i've been unsuccessful. I don't get it! I actually did meet the criteria they wanted except that i don't have the 2 years experience in customer service. I met all the other 4 criteria. Do they really need the customer service experience? Im so disappointed.

Hi Pink Mermaid,

Are you sure you got their reply of unsuccessful? As i thought only shortlisted is notified? And moreover, your sent in your application sooooo early then mine. I didnt get any reply from jetstar(successful or unsuccessful).Only a letter from jetstar that my application is through and they will notified me how is the outcome. How about your application to silkair?

No the interviews are done on separate days.. not sure if they still do that and as for the pay wise... as for the contract...If I am still correct it is a 3-yr contract and 1 yr bond within the 3 yrs contract.. u can leave after the bond and training will be done in Melbourne.. because that where all the Aussies F.As are trained....pay wise... well if ure in for the experience than pay shld be ok but if ure looking for a good pay... hmmmm mayb u might want to consider
Are you sure the training is in Melbourne? When I joined the first batch, it was in Brisbane, but after that, to cut cost, they changed the later batches' to Hong Kong, and they were trying to get it changed to KL recently...

You get a basic of 710 until u get confirmed, then one year after that, its 810 basic. The basic covers the first 100 hours u work... so if you work less than 100 hours, all u get is 710, BEFORE CPF deductions... After the 100 hours, each subsequent hour is $15per hour. On average, each crew works about 150 hours per month. Doesnt sound like a lot, but its pretty tiring coz when they say u only need 10 hour rest, they reallly mean it...u can do a 11.5hour Taipei, touch down at 10.30, take bus home coz they dun provide taxi unless its after 11pm... and next day, do another taipei at 10.30am...

Hope this helps.

Sorry you have been unsuccessful

Dear Applicant,

Sorry you have not met the initial criteria for a cabin crew member which is as
follows;

You must be over 1.58 metres.
You must be able to swim 50 metres or more.
You must have over 2 years of customer service experience.
You must not have been interviewed for a cabin crew position for Jetstar Asia in
the last 6 months.
As the total salary package is below $23,000, you must have answered yes to
acknowledge this.

We wish you luck in your job hunt and if you do learn to swim or gain 2 years or
more of experience in customer service, we will be happy for you to reapply in
the future.

Kind regards

Melanie Lim
Jetstar Asia Airways Pte Ltd

This is what i got on the nite itself. I myself was so shocked and disappointed.. i still havent got a reply from silkair..

Oh......They really send you this content of unsuccessful mail? But 1 question, do you state no when they ask whether you can swim with lift jacket?

But is really really very weird. As stated on the confirmation of my apllication that only shortlisted is nortified. Did you call and ckeck it out?

I also have not received any reply from silkair. I think they are putting a halt for the 3 airlines(SIA,silkair and jetstar) as they maybe busy in putting the new girls for the training program which they are so aggressive in recruiting for the past few months.

I guess as long as you have answered 'NO' to any questions, you will be out automatically...

Hi,

Basic is 710?? :P Based on O level entry? Any flight allowance and any other allowance like laundry allowance perhaps? Annual wage supplement?

uniform

Post by mama lengmong » Mon, 18 Jul 2005 1:39 am

what do all of you think about Jetstar Asia's cabin crew uniform for both ladies and men? Is it nice? I find Jetstar uniform very cool but not sure of Jetstar Asia's.

There are NO other allowance besides the 710 basic and $15 per hour after first 100 hours. The uniform is a black hi collar dress for the girls and black shirt and pants for guys... its black with orange trimmings at the neck and sleeves. Grils get an orange scarf too.

On average, normal crew (not incharge), whether O level or degree holder will get about $1.6k pay every month before CPF deductions. That includes the (very little) comission u get from sales, and basic and flight allowance, and if you work 150 hours minimum.
