Hi all..

I've experienced a worrying thing on our free and useful forum..

I posted a question, asking where are the happening places for g a y ' s nite outs. It was nite the message uploaded, and the following morn it was missing. Therefore, I posted a question to our mods, asking why the post was deleted. The next time I was online, this post was missing too.

Still wanted to get this through, I tried once more to post the same question - and lo! The word g a y automatically changed to be g u y after the post was uploaded. Went to 'edit' mode, and hey, the original text was still with A letter on it!

Wanna hear what you think.. especially the regulars and chatters, since you people -in my opinion- are the truly owners of our forum. Should this kind of bias be applied here?

My opinion is clear - it should NOT happen here.

My opinion is clear - it should NOT happen here.

I would think that this site should stay as a clean and proper forum. The idea about suggesting gay places only would invite more gay postings like, gay meetings, gay outings...don't you feel the gay postings would be more appropriate in gay-made websites..(aww man there are so many great gay-lesbian webbies..just check them out and you'll have hoards of responses..

I am not biased personally, but I feel such postings belong to a more targeted website.

I am pretty sure I did not see my 'Mr. Moderator' post yesterday morning - and of course I wouldnt, since it was moved to FAQ while I posted it under Entertainment section. As Strong Eagle explained to me, it might be just a system error, and fair enough.

And again, wow.. now gay word is working!! I was trying twice last nite. And if my keyboard is not working properly.. assured you, I typed so many gay words using my laptop. So, now I'm bl@@dy sure that something's wrong here. But again, can not prove anything since did not save the screen or such.

And for ones wondering why did I post here asking such a question??? Because here is 'Singapore Expat forum', not 'Non-Gay Singapore Expat Forum'.

cinder, the mods shift certain posts to the relevant sections. i have said this many times before, the mods here are very fair, and almost never delete any post unless its truly inflammatory.

one way of keeping track of your posts is by hitting the 'View your posts' button on top. hope this helps...

well i did see that gay post this morning but there wasn't anything on it.. so you're saying they cud possibly removed it right..

I don't blame them cause you never know the ages of people on this forum.. anyway i don't thin they are bias but just being careful thats all.

hi there, i think when you say "stay as a clean and proper forum " it seems to imply that anything related to gay people are "unclean" and "improper", which i think is already discriminatory and reflects a prejudice towards people of a non-heterosexual orientation in itself.

after all we see so many posts on straight meetings and straight dating, and nobody batted an eyelid or said we should keep the forum "clean and proper" ... so why discriminate against a group of people ... and tell them to go away to a website SPECIALLY meant for them?

i think we shouldn't SEGREGATE people like that ... just imagine we say the chinese should go to a chinese website and the indians should go to an indian website ... aren't chinese and indians all sporeans?

I mean, this is the "spore" expats forum ... and since spore - like everywhere else in the world - is made up of people spanning the entire spectrum of sexuality, we should be welcoming everyone here and not separating people into gay or straight, chinese or indians, men or women, christians or muslims ...

let's hope we don't turn into a narrow-minded, intolerant, discriminating group of people ...

btw gay people are no more and no less "cleaner" or "proper" than straight people ... time to throw our biased attitudes into the dustbin!

Does that mean I have to find a specialist forum for my sea fishing needs? Or for my hawkercentre needs? Or for my whatever needs?

There's nothing to be afraid of, when gay people enter this forum, don't worry. They are just like you and me, but with a different preference when it comes to getting involved with another partner, that's all.

well i assume you are saying there might be children around in this forum but i don't think it matters ..


the sooner our children realize that our world does not consist only of straight people but those of a non-heterosexual orientation as well, i think the better!

we don't want our kids to grow up narrow-minded and intolerant of differences in others. Many of us grew up with prejudiced attitudes we picked up from our parents and society which we wish we never had.

One place you can try is a place called Alternative Bar at 44a Tras Street.
It is a small place with a pool table but everyone is very friendly. Be warned there are some very good pool players

We move threads to another forum when we determine they are off topic in the forum that they were posted.

We move threads to rubbish when they degenerate into name calling and other sorts of nonsensical trash.

We move commercial posts that are placed in the wrong forum (not posted in classifieds, for example).

We delete commercial spam posted to multiple forums.

We delete MLM posts that do not identify the business as MLM.

We delete posts made by commercial real estate agents offering their services.

We delete posts that slam businesses because there is no proof and the business cannot defend itself.

We delete posts that are virulently racist, sexist, or consist of nothing but attacks on another poster.

We do NOT delete posts because somebody's kiddies might be reading them.

We do NOT delete posts because of content or subject matter, except as noted above.

We are NOT your mommy and daddy, telling you what to post or not post. We try to leave this board as uncensored as humanly possible.

I have received notes that some posts are missing. I do not know why this is. I am trying to find out.

Registered users can always go view their own list of posts to see if the topic has been moved.

wanna hear sumtin funny? I tried to get this system to accept the word "wanna" and it wouldn't. Kept comin' out as "want to" when it was transferred onto the message board. But when I checked back with my original 'post-a-reply' entry, it showed up as I typed it. "Wanna".

So, whaddaya make of it, mods?
