In whose name should we complete the shipment papers?

Post by seidltan » Tue, 28 Jun 2005 12:08 pm

Hi All,

we are in the midst of giving instructions to the relocation company in Germany for our move from Germany to Singapore and they asked us in whose name do we want the shipment papers to be issued. They said that we should issue the papers in the name of the person, where custom clearances would be easier :

My husband is Austrian, and he is moving from Germany to Singapore.
I am Singaporean, have lived in Europe for the past 15 years (last 4 in Germany).

Any advice/experience to share in whose name we should issue the shipment papers?

Thanks tonnes!

I don't think it will really matter because of nationality. I'd use the name of the person who will be here in SIngapore to accept delivery. If you are both going to be here, who might be home during the day for delivery?
