Any American or Australian drivers care to comment?

Post by Guest » Sat, 26 Jun 2004 1:16 am

I came across this most interesting website

I can't believe they got the local police to test it out on their behalf. Can any Americans or Australians tell if they have used this product or had at least seen it on TV?

Does it really work? Can it *gasp* be used here?

Depends on if Singapore's speeding cameras use flash. I have little doubt that it's illegal though, and if noticed tracking you down even with an unreadable license plate isn't too hard -- that's what the little ERP In-vehicle Unit transmitter in your car is there for.

If you want to speed, cross the Second Link and prepare a couple of wallets with exactly one 50-ringgit note in them. Proper distribution of so-called "on-the-spot fines" to Malaysia's boys in blue will give you a license to zoom all the way to Had Yai as fast as your car will let you.

The red-light camera here does use flash. I doubt if they can track you down as the ERP IU only tracks for ERP gantry not red lights.

Preparing one 50 Ringgit note for NS highway will not work. On a bad day, you'll get at least 10 or more speedtraps all the way to Hatyai. That's going to cost a bomb!

The website also mention a plate cover that act against speeding laser. So effectively, there's complete protection against both red-light and speeding cameras.

The question is, do they really work? Anyone with experience care to comment?

A month or so ago, I did see a current affair report about the licence plate covers & sprays back in Melbourne

They did interview a policeman and he successfully showed with his equipment that even the most difficult snaps by red-light cameras & speed cameras he was able to digitally adjust the pictures colour, shading etc and read with clarity the licence plate numbers.

Personally, I've never tried the products though.

Does it work?

Thanks for reply. So I guess if the TP do bother to adjust for colour correction, this product may not work.

Hmmm....do our TP here and in Malaysia bother to take on this extra workload?
