It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

In Holland we call them Johnny and Anita: They drive in a Honda civic CRX, which is totally stripped (no logos or signs), lowered suspension and an exhaustpipe the size of a littering bin (not meant to throw in your garbage though).
They hold the steering wheel like Superman, look evil and talk rude, loud and snap at eachother all the time.

They are not exactly from the higher social classes, occasionally they go out and have a few beers, but in general they do not mingle so much, they rather spend time in front of the tele, while Ah beng is squatting down and has one hand in his pants all the time. Ah Lien loves doing her nails (which Singapore girl doesnot by the way, but not saying ALL girls are Ah lien, for heavens sake), dresses in pinkish, purplish colours and both of them are chainsmokers (sorry on that one Sapphire).

Educationwise, they have left school as soon as they had to start reading, obviously the streetlife was more attractive to both.

You will find these species most of the time in the Heartlands in Singapore, living a troubled life.

So far my understanding, just like to add I dinot mean to hurt anyone reading this, it is just a survey of my own poor life so far. So all resemblances with existing persons or yourself are purely fictuous and not real.

Amen,

Eric

Actually Eric is pretty right. Each country has their own version of Bengs and Lians..

The movie is for bengs because it is about little Japanese cars racing around. Ah Bengs are VERY into their souped-up Civics and especially the much-worshipped Mitsubishi "Evo".

Funny show

The movie wasn't at all Beng, it's hilarious and exciting. It's derived from the Japanese comic books that's what makes it even better. I guess people who can only see the poster as Beng, then ..too bad. See it to believe it.

I never seen in SG any good local taxi or bus driver, they all drive like heel, abruptly start and stop, no any sense of distance or speed.
Local car races? Hope i will never see it in real here

You couldn't be more right here...

I just became the victim of a road rage, here in Singapore! :?

I was driving back home from town, entered ECP from Beach road and overtook another car, nothing going on. I am used to enter the highway at higher speed, that is what you learn back in Holland. So I enter and overtake this car at about 80 km/h, which obviously frustrated this guy (let's call him Ah Beng).

I drive towards the right lane on ECP, as usual, cause I am usually driving at maximum speed allowed. Suddenly I hear this heavy sound (lots of sound, no speed) of this car coming from the left, overtaking me and giving me the eye, staring at me. I look surprised to the left, see the guy and he gives me the finger (the middlefinger that is).

I got no clue what his attention is, he overtakes in an idiot way, almost smashing a motobiker, and drives in front of me and jambrakes...

I brake, got a bit of a shock, but hey, I am cool 8) , so I just continue driving and he goes to the next lane and waits for me to come aside of him, opens the window and starts shouting. I kept cool, not interested in idiots anyway, and wave at him like "bye bye". His girlfriend (let's call her Ah Lien) was sitting next to him and she was more realistic and pulled his arm, but obviously Ah Beng was too heated up and his hormones were at full alert. Again he tried to overtake me for most likely another jam brake, but this time I got tired of it, so I slowly brake, go to the extreme left lane and just do not pay attention. But Ah Beng was mad, so he "followed" me, which I found quite amusing actually. I drove towards Parkway parade (had to do some shopping) and he was so kind to come along as well (probably needed to get another spoiler for his car). He was about 2 or 3 cars behind me in the carpark, so I park and stay in my car until he is around. He stops in front of me and comes out, around 1,65 m and dressed in sleezy shorts who were way too big for this poor little guy.

Now people who seen me, I am bit taller than 1,65m, so I step out of my car while he was calling me all kind of names in (I guess) Hokkien. I slowly walked to him, could see the surprise on his face and instantly I made a move like I started running suddenly. He stepped into his car and wanted to drive off. All I did was going to the car, give a good smack with my flat hand on the rooftop and off he drove, lots of sound from the double exhaust pipe, Ah Lien screaming at him.

Aya, Singapore very unsafe lah!
