I have an BA in Philosophy, a BSc and an MSc in Computer Science and I am finishing up my PhD in the next year or so here at Yale in Evolutionary Biology. My work is essentially theoretical evolutionary systems biology and I work with developmental-genetic systems.
Anyways, I am wondering if anyone would have an incling what the job market would be for my qualifications. I know a couple of years ago it was possibly to go straight into a faculty position in comp sci, while biology PhDs usually have to spend a few years in a post doc. As well, I don't know if I can get into a computer science department because my PhD is in Biology, even though my research is computationally non-trivial and parallels artificial intelligence as far as theory goes.
Any advice I might get from you would be helpful. I know there is a systems biology research center there and Singapore is ramping up on computational biology, however, I would like to get some personal takes on this.
Thanks,
R
