Has anyone had experience using Pet Movers? We are bringing two cats and were considering using them to make it easier.
Also, how did you pay for the Import application and other paperwork? I read somewhere that they want either cash or a check from a local Sg bank, but I can't open a bank account until we get there.

Bringing Pets to Singapore
In our case it was the Pet Hotel for quarantine & I do remember the payment was tricky because they wouldn't take credit cards - only cash or a check in Singapore dollars. Difficult if you are not already in Singapore. In our case, we got my husband's company to cut a check for the required amount since they were paying for the relocation - including our pet - anyway. Ask them about doing a wire transfer & then see if your bank can transfer funds in Singapore dollars to a Singapore account - that might work.
You'd think these places would at least take a credit card considering they are dealing with people from other countries almost exclusively! Good luck, I hope you can find a way to get it worked out.

pets to Singapore
Hello friend,
I, too, am having my dog shipped over. You basically have to do all the work yourself, so you may as well do it and save yourself some money. Pretend you're paying yourself instead of PM. Contact the agent and here is her address: TAN_Yeow_Fong@ava.gov.sg. She goes by Natalie...the sweetest on the planet...works with AVA, the governmental agency there and the one who issues the permits. She'll walk you through the process and send the forms to you...you'll need 2 of everything. Fill them out and fax them back to her. If you know anyone in Singapore...your landlord or employer, for instance...have them write a check to AVA, and you reimburse that person when you get there...that's what I did. Just let AVA know that "so and so" is going to send the $50 for your permits and then you send along your application about the same timeframe, so they're able to keep all your info together. When you fax, I faxed 011-65-6227-6305...from Atlanta, GA, and it went through. If your animals are old (over 10 years old), you'll need an additional indemnity form, saying they're not responsible.
I think you'll find the process easier than you think, but you must follow the directions they give you for cats...I did it for dogs, and fill in all the blanks on the forms...won't take you very long at all, but you need to do this and get the permits approved, usually at least 2 weeks before you travel. Don't delay...start today.
Hope this helps. The government is truly very helpful. You can do it!
Questions, just ask Natalie. She's so helpful!

Re: Relocation with dogs
Hello there,
We relocated fron San Jose, CA to Singapore last August with three dogs and they are doing fine. We flew with SQ from SFO and cargo them. Do check with the airlines as they have limited number of animals that they can land with. Make sure that you have all the paperworks requred winthin 7 days of departure. We used pet Mover but pet hotel also provide the same service. When they are in the quaratine, ( which is the PEt Hotel location) I visited them within the time allowed everyday. The quarantine station is great and their staffs really care for the animals. You can check in out on the web site.
