Planning a trip to US, what adapter for my notebook & Mo

Post by NewinHere » Thu, 02 Jun 2005 11:04 am

Hi,

I am planning a trip to USA next week for a month.

My notebook and mobile charger is UK standard (3 pin plug). Anyone to advise how I can able to charge my battry in USA? Any special adaptor for this? Can I get them here in Singapore?

Thanks

Two things to consider ... electrical & physical:
Electrical - laptop power supplies nowadays can handle most countries (definitely US). Check on the power supply for something like "Input voltage 110-240 50/60Hz" If it says that, no problem.
Physical - UK/Singapore three pin plugs will need an adaptor to fit in US 2 or 3 pin plugs. You can buy these at the airport, at Funan, DIY shops, loads of places. If you fly SQ, you can even buy on the plane! You can either buy the cheapo ones which are 'fixed' for only the US style, probably about S$5 to S$10, or get the more flexible ones which can be used in many other countries too, but obviously cost a bit more, say S$25 to S$40.
Enjoy your trip

Challenger has a box that is universal and will work anywhere. It costs about $17. They also have a fancy rotary one for about $43 but I don't know what it gets you.

Like the previous poster said, just check you computer power supply to insure that it is universal. Should be.
