Opinions Wanted: New Restaurant Concept.

Post by sin321 » Wed, 01 Jun 2005 12:23 pm

Hi, I’m in the planning stages for a new restaurant here and the concept will be loosely based on Bills & Bills2 in Sydney, offering breakfast, lunch & dinner menus in casual, friendly surroundings, with good food, service and ambience.

Do you think Singapore needs another place like this? Will it appeal to local and expat alike?

Your views/opinions much appreciated.

I have not been to Sydney since Bill Grainger became a star but I have his cookbooks and love his type of food.

I wasn't aware that Singapore had ANY places like this? If you get it right I am sure you will do very well. Good service will definitely rank you above many restaurants in Singapore for a start.

Casual suggests low key spot not the tourist traps... more neighbourhood places would be great (especially my neighbourhood!) although the experience of the Cantina suggests this is a difficult option. Somewhere like Dempsey Road maybe?

Good luck

Hey, Sandpiper, thanks for your feedback.

Yes, we plan on being a neighbourhood place, though we are still researching various areas. I’m personally a little cautious about Dempsey as it’s a little out of the way and we are thinking along the lines of more residential in order to hopefully gain a loyal local following.

Also from your feedback, and the feedback on another forum, service is definitely a big issue and will be at the top of the agenda.
