If you are in water over your head and you don't want to drown, yes, it is highly recommended that you learn to swim. Learning to swim adequately is actually quite easy.

It is not a prerequisite to know how to swim, as life vests are provided during cabin crew training. However, you definitely need to have no fear of water, as being cabin crew, you absolutely cannot display panic in emergency situations. It is a plus to acquire basic swimming skills though, for your own good...if you ever become cabin crew, and in an emergency landing, should you not be able to get hold of a life vest, what would you do? Sink or swim?

The original poster said nothing about being a stewardess.

However, I grant you that it is WAY too much to ask for the original poster to have used "Is it required for SQ girls to know how to swim?" instead of "Izzit a must to learn swim?".

It is surprising just how much you know if you are tracking the posters

Swimming can be picked up easily if you have no water phobia.

Tracking? All I had to do was read the original (semi-illiterate) post.
