EP Application PASS fill in question

Post by Need Info » Wed, 25 May 2005 10:42 pm

Ladies Gents Greetings,

I am currently completing my EP form and I need help in asnwering this question:

What race should I put: for Indonesian from Sulawesi Island. It is rather complicated to clasify Indonesian since are have such a diverse ethnicity. Would Indonesia in general are considered Malay?

Let me know your input. Thanks all.

What does your passport say? Use that.

Strong Eagle,

Thanks for your reply. Anyway my passport does not say about race. Nationality Indonesian thats it. I'm thinking just writing Indonesian, since race should be the determining factors in getting your EP.

What do you think?

Call me a simpleton, but if you're Indonesian, then you're Asian. Period.

I'm a Cauc, born in Central America. European/American Indian lineage. But I'm still a Cauc.

Go with Asian.

Hi Need Info,

".....since race should be the determining factors in getting your EP.."
Firstly, I dont think race is afactor in getting EP. But nationality may be a factor. For eg Malaysians get EP & PR much -much easily.....

My advise write Indonatian NEVER write ASIAN if you dont know exactly..
There is no race called ASIAN.
good luck

"Malay" is the wrong answer, the Malay/Muslim quotas are the smallest and you'll increase your odds of being rejected. Just go with "Indonesian", if it's not an acceptable answer they'll tell you to choose from the official list of options (about two pages worth!).

FWIW, I tried to enter my race as "Other" but MoM wouldn't accept it
