Hi,
I'm planning to move to singapore this year end and i'm thinking whether it profitable to buy a
condo or rent a apartment for a long run.
Thanks for your advise

There are many varied forms of housing and locations, catering to different tastes. If you are a newcomer, I suggest renting for 1 yr first, get a feel of the local situation, and then decide what best suits yr needs. For example, some may like the sea, some may like big dogs, some like the city buzz, and there are not many locations that can cater to all needs.
Condo
property prices have dropped a fair bit, and right now, for choice
condo units, renting vs buying is a tough call. If looking for landed property, then renting is still a better option.

Jack,
Buying is a better option if you ever have the intention of settling in with your own house.
The rents you pay can be used as part of the instalments, that is of course, if you're ready with the 20% downpayment.
It's always good to own something you can really call 'home'.
Gd luck.
