Parents of young children, where do you go or what do you do, on weekend evenings?

Joanne, I am assuming you mean with kids?

If so, a couple of ideas. Sorry only a few, our kids are just only getting old enough that we can take them out (other than to friends houses) with the effort v enjoyment ratio in our favour.

So are still finding our feet and look forward to reading more suggestions.

BBQ on the beach at Sentosa - we take one of those disposal BBQ's that look like a alfoil roasting tray

BBQ at one of the parks with BBQ pits http://www.nparks.gov.sg/activities/act-bbq.shtml

Or cafe at one of above parks http://www.nparks.gov.sg/activities/act-din.shtml.

Outdoor concert at the Botanical Gardens http://www.nparks.gov.sg/calendar/cal-cal_of_eve.shtml

Hawker Centre - my kids love "Satay St" just off Robinson Rd in the city where we will sometimes meet daddy after work on a Friday.

Pasta Fresca on the East coast at the Seasports Centre

Hua Zhu Chinese Restaurant which is on Farrer Road under the HDB block off Empress Road - lots of room for the kids to run once they have had enough of sitting down (although if they are very little be prepared to run after them)

And last and more increasingly least...the "club"

Thanks for those suggestions, i was really looking for a couple of places where my son can run around whilst we have a couple of beers. Any ideas?

Now THAT really is a good question and i look forward to others responses. We have found that Brewerks and Cafe Iguana kind of fit the description and it appears that others seem to do the same in terms of having a few while the kids run around. We also take bottles of wine to some of the parks listed above for picnic/few cocktails in the late afternoon.

Hi Joanne,

I thought of somewhere else that may be worth a look, although I have only been once after a play so the details may be a bit vague. My kids had a great time running around the square and fountain while I had coffee:

Next door to the DBS Arts Centre on Merbau Rd is a "square" surrounded by bars, cafes etc...go inside the square as there are also eating places on the street side as well...I think it is called Fraser Place or Robertson Walk. I think they were trying to recreate a European piazza, it is quite cute IMHO and no quick access to the road so quite safe for kiddies.
