What makes you happy?

Postby Kimi » Thu, 19 May 2005 1:07 am

We convince ourselves that life will be better after
we get married, have a baby, then another.
Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough
and we'll be more content when they are.

After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with.
We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.
We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our
spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer
car, are able to go on a nice vacation,or when we retire.

The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now.
If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.
It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.
Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have
and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special,
special enough to spend your time with...and remember that time
waits for no one.

So, stop waiting

--until your car or home is paid off
--until you get a new car or home
--until your kids leave the house
--until you go back to school
--until you lose ten pounds
--until you gain ten pounds
--until you finish school
--until you get a divorce
--until you get married
--until you have kids
--until you retire
--until summer
--until spring
--until winter
--until fall
--until you die

There is no better time than RIGHT NOW to be happy.

Happiness is a JOURNEY, not a destination.

So -- work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.

So, what makes you happy?

A simple smile or a thank you makes me happy

Every little things in life..
a smile
a touch of warming sunshine
a drop of rain falling from the blue...

Everything...
to be able to breath
to be able to wake up in the morning
to be able to feel

Everything that I can't sum up with words...

I totally agree, I feel thatnthe situations can be generalised into 2 distinct categories, Either you work really hard for 5 days a week and pay for your hobby which you'll enjoy during the weekend if possible. You'll be working harder and harder to get more money so you can enjoy 2 days in a week. Or, let your hobby/interest pay you. If you enjoy playing tennis then be a tennis coach or something related to tennis, then you'll be doing what you enjoy for 5 days a week, you'll be happy and the money won't matter as long as you have enough to survive. That's just my humble opinion of course. =D

Cheers!

That which does not Destroy you,
Only makes you stronger.

Freedom. To be free to do anything beside the bad.

Not been manipulated, trapped, against own's will, forced, treated etc.

Besides that...

-Re-playing the 124th game on my PS.
-Getting my hands FINALLY on the 40+ crack games from Malaysia on PS2.
-Sharing my views with people of diverse backgrounds and views.
-Crying over the character (Aeris) who just died on Final Fantasy 7 for the 15th time because you've grown so horribly attached to your fantasy world.
-Drawing your selflessly loving pet using charcoal, paint, fingers, then having it all cat/dog/lizard/mouse signature-licked.
-Smelling the green grass as you wade through it, then cursing out loud when you step on dog poo.
-After 4 years of getting ripped off at shabby net parlours and sweating your arse to go over to isolated comunity centers 100 miles away from humanity for its cheap $1/hr rates cuz you're just too darn broke to have the net in your constantly electricity-deprived house - getting it in your house!
-Returning back to your true home(not SG, of course. But visiting would be nice.) after years of waiting, shedding tears over, fights..etc.
-Realising you're not born in Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, rural indonesia, Malaysia AS A WOMAN...
-Watching ANIME (Japanese animation.), french cartoons, and cheesy tamil dubbed cartoons to get an idea of the diversity around you and what their cultures teach their kids.
-Listening to music you love.
-Being in a monogamous relationship w/o sexual relations to diversify your perspectives on relationships. (only for couples ,best friends who have similar goals and ready for it!! :P )
-Sipping a cool iced tea under a shady hdb/tree while the sun blazes, and feeling darn good abt it.
-Seeing a brillant blue jay appear out of all the brown birds for a fleeting moment and then disappear into a grove of trees.
-Dancing in the rain.
-Dancing in the rain. Outside your house. While you favourite music is blasting.
-Walking to the top of a mountain. And screaming.
-Making resolutions to yourself to always be conscious of the world and the life, energy and all around you - even if you're just following the old human (study, get the paper, fall in love - or not, marry, have kids, work, grow old, die.) routine.
-To always feel for people - the living beings around you - and their suffering.
-To cry alone alot while a touching song plays. Then wiping it all off as quckly as possible when someone knocks.
-A cloudy day in a hot country.
-A chance to even complain - even though you ought to - even though yes it is a crappy country.
-To feel the sea breeze while listening to the waves lapping on the shore.
-To have won someone's heart.
-To have your heart broken.
-Cooking in your kitchen. Together with your loved one.
-Cooking in the kitchen - while Pooch or Puss sits and stares.
-Flipping through old photos.
-Not feeling guilty listening to Michael Jackson - or George Michael.
-A cloudy day.
-A kiss at 3am from Pooch or Puss.
-Watching kittens playing with each other.
-Then adopting one for your own.

And many more little things.[/code]
