"Bak Chang" festive fare in Takashimaya

Post by monicae » Fri, 11 Jun 2004 1:01 pm

Hi all out there who are curious how various sort of dumplings taste like. They are having a dumpling fare in the food court of Takashimaya. was there just yesterday, lotsa variety. Meritus Mandarin has this really nice Duck Dumpling. It's a once a year event.

I'm not too sure about the story of this event but it is originated from China. It's about this very great chap, he jumped into the river (commit suidcide), apparently he was upset about something which I can't remember what. His body couldn't be found so they threw little rice dumplings into the water to feed the fishes so that they will not eat his body. There is also the Dragon boat race during this festival. Which I also cannot remember the significance of.

any one who can fill in the pieces please do
