Sports fishing on sea

Post by dot dot dot » Sat, 14 May 2005 12:27 pm

Hi all,

I am wondering if anybody has adresses or information on how I could organize any sports fishing on sea. I would like to find out if it is possible to go out fishing here on a small yacht or so, and try and catch some of the bigger fishes, like barracuda or sharks.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a cruel guy trying to get in sharks for their fins or some idiocy like that, it is just about the sports of catching and then carefully putting it back to where it belongs: the great wide open sea.

Anybody here with expertise on this sports?

Eric,

I am an avid fisherman and there is some amazing sport fishing (Malaysian Sailfish and Black Tip Marlin being the most popular "big fish" along with all sorts of ground fishing at the same time! FYI - In the past 3 trips, we managed to land around 15 sailfish (largest being 55kg, which for Malaysia is a monster!) It is usually about a 4-5 hour drive depending on the border and they charterers pick you up, feed you, take you fishing with experienced boatmen and bring you back again to Singapore! AWESOME experience!

Oh yeah another thing to bear in mind, it is Malysian law that ALL sailfish, shark and marlin are strictly catch and release!! Not like Thailand, where those bastards haven't figured that out yet! Avoid Sport fishing in Thailand until their laws change! Let me know if you need any recommendations for charters. I can definately put you in the right direction!!
