Hi!
I am an Indian. I have been offered a package of 35000S$ /year . I am single. They would also subtract a security deposit from this money. No other expenses will be paid. The job involves extensive travelling. I earn around 20,000 rs/ month here. Will it make any sense to migrate to singapore???Will I be able to send atleast 25,000 home?? How much would be my monthly expenses??

It is very hard to gauge your expenses if you did not list out things you intend to spend on like:
Are you intending to rent a private apartment or a room in HDB flat?
(This makes the biggest difference in your expenses)

For food wise you need not worry, we have plenty of Indian food here. Transport wise as long you are not intending to take a cab every morning to work that will not affect your remittance plan.

Here is a rough gauge of you expenditure in singapore. 35,000 per year will be in the middle income group in Singapore.

Rental of Room - $350 - $500 a month depending on location and type of apartment (government or private)

Transportation - Depends on where u stay and where u work. If you take the public transport be prepared to pay between $100 - $200 per month

Meals - Dinning at hawker centres and convenient and cheap. A decent meal with drinks would cost u about $5.00 on the average. But again it would be much cheaper if you cooked yourself. So you'll need at least $300-400 on meals a month.

Misc will be groceries, medicals.... Plus if you're going to need to travel alot you'll neeed to include travelling expenses too.

U can ask your employer to include rental charges in your benefits.

I used to work in this company where they have quite a few expats from India and their accomodations were taken care of. But that was about 8 years ago. With the economy down turn recently. Alot of benefits has been removed. It's better you work out roughly what you need to survive here and see if it's worth while taking the job. Also measure the prospect of the job. It may not pay alot now but what potential does it have for you. And how it will affect your career,

Good luck!!!
