Does anyone know where I can buy a good quality and authentic Japanese futon mattress in Singapore? I'm looking for one that I can roll away and store when not needed. I know Ikea sells them but I doubt I get similar quality there. Thanks

Might want to try Takashimaya - or ask around Japanese stores - quite expensive though.

Coming from NYC, I had heaps of choices. 8 inch thick - cotton with a foam core. Unbelievable comfort and structure - great for the back. I actually suffered sleeping on a foam mattress on the floor in Singapore for a few months till I gave up the idea of getting the futon I was looking for. There are some stores here and there selling futon couches - Ikea included but the mattress quality is dubious. Nothing compares!

Good luck - I know how you feel!

Ive been trying to hunt for a futon for the past 3 years- gave up. Cannot sleep on the spring mattresses- too used to the cotton mattress. In India atleast you can a cotton mattress made in the shop round the corner- unlikely its possible here
