Citizenship conversion as a family

Post by yosithezet » Sun, 09 Nov 2025 9:47 pm

We are considering applying for citizenship. Assuming that it is approved and we get the IPA, different members of the family have different citizenships to renounce. The timing of the renunciations may not align. Is it possible for different family members (Mother, Father, Minor Son) to activate the IPA and become citizens as the respective renunciations take effect or do we need to wait for all of them to be ready and then continue the process as a group?

Assuming the Mother and Minor Son have a more straightforward renunciation path, would it be better for them to apply separately for citizenship?

Applying together as a family always has benefits and sends the right message. Renunciations with different passports can be managed.

Thanks. The question is will they allow staggered activations as the renunciations come through or will everyone need to wait and activate together?

^This means ICA will surely be aware of the passport Renunciation timelines of different passports.

You can do them separately.

Renunciation is very fast and easy to show at ICA. Members can take up citizenship as renunciations come through. If questioned keep copies of paper work showing renunciation progress for different members.

They know the drama is on the other side - esp with bodoh countries doing their best to increase brain drain.
