Visiting Hong Kong This December – Need Suggestions for Couple-Friendly Places

Post by avi0021 » Fri, 07 Nov 2025 8:31 pm

Hey everyone,

My partner and I are planning a trip to Hong Kong this December, and we’re really excited! It’s our first time visiting together, and we’d love some recommendations on romantic or couple-friendly places to explore while we’re there.

We’re looking for a mix of relaxing spots and fun experiences — maybe some scenic views, cozy cafés, or unique attractions that aren’t too crowded. We’re also open to suggestions for evening activities or nice restaurants with great views.

Would really appreciate any tips or personal favourites from those who’ve been there recently. Thanks

Look for Tsim Sha Tsui station and find a hotel around there. Super convenient, hotels & restaurants for any budget, and you can just walk to the Harbour Promenade — my wife and I still have a photo from over 25 years ago at that spot which we cherish to this day. Also within walking distance is the Star Ferry, taking it is an absolute must, it’s dirt cheap and a piece of history to experience (while you still can). Causeway Bay is the second most prominent place that comes to mind, it’s a lot like Orchard Road, but with more variety if you venture around it.

I would also recommend a quick trip to Macau if you have time, not for gambling but for the unique Portuguese influence and the food (some say the dim sum is better than Hong Kong… but you can decide). The Cotai Strip is worth checking out - especially properties like the Venetian, but I wouldn’t overnight there unless you get a deal too good to pass up.

We stayed at Yau Ma Tei during our HK visit of 2017. HK hotels were very expensive even then and we found this YMCA hotel which was quite basic and the price was reasonable. We would visit Tsim Sha Tsui to have food at an Indian restaurant. The shopping at Mong Kok was really nice. Apart from that we did the usual tourist stuff, disney, ocean park, the peak and the big buddha. Hong Kong is definitely more alive and liveable than Singapore.
