Hi to all gurus.
I need some advice on LTVP.
Some background; im a sg sc, recently rom with my wife who is a foreigner. I would wish to apply for LTVP for her. But im currently unemployed but doing freelance work. She used to be a S pass holder but quite. We had our pmla approved but going to expire in a few weeks time. Should i go ahead and submit the application? What are my odds? Will submitting my back acc and investment account helps? I also have my own hdb already. Thanks in advance.

What country is your new bride from? For example, if she’s from Malaysia it’ll be an easier approval than say Thailand or Vietnam.
I wouldn’t volunteer any extra financial info unless you literally put unemployed or some very low income level. Wait for them to ask, or wait for the rejection and appeal with the investment/account balances. They approved your PMLA which implies that you’d potentially qualify for a LTVP.
If you ask me personally, I think they sometimes reject just to see how badly you want it… if you realize it’s a shaky or questionable marriage, it can be a blessing for you… an easy way out.

Unemployed is not correct if you are doing freelance work. For the company name, I would simply enter N/A (not applicable). I would include hard evidence of your income, like deposits and/or paid invoices. If the amount doesn’t seem sufficient to support you both, then I would also include bank statements, investments, etc… whatever means you have to support you and your wife. Without this, the risk of rejection is high IMO.

When you applied for PMLA, you would have input employment info too. Did your job change between PMLA & LTVP?

Bottom line, even if you are rejected, you can appeal and provide additional evidence. As long as you can reasonably support you and your wife financially, you will get the LTVP eventually. My in-laws got rejected initially and they appealed with additional evidence and were eventually approved, so don’t lose hope (if you really want this). On the other hand, if you are having second thoughts about the marriage, the rejection can be a helpful catalyst.

All applications are in case by case basis. What works for one case does not necessarily work for another case. Same goes for appeals.
Most of the time if you were employed for PMLA but become unemployed for LTVP, it will lean towards rejection because ICA sees it as you cannot financially support yourself ane your spouse.

Oh dear, you should have changed employment after the LTVP is secured not before lah…
You can only try and see if ICA accepts.

Maybe retire early in Cambodia as a plan B? It would cost less than S$1k per month. The rental yield on your HDB flat alone might cover it. Might sound crazy, but a lot of people do it.

Definitely an extension. Since her LTVP is in process, she should be perfectly eligible for an extension. If you send her back, it could appear that you (or she), is not as serious about this.

Was told by some ppl that she should go back as it may affect her travel history. LTVP also see her travel history. Before we rom, ica got reject her extention before. So really lost now as what i should do.

I am fairly certain once you an active application for any kind of pass, they will extend. Prior to ROM it is not surprising they rejected it. I assume you sponsored it?
If they reject her extension this time, do not take no for an answer, ask to speak to an officer — she is now your wife, and they are also observing how you as her husband will fight for her. If you take this marriage seriously, you should be behave as such. That could also give them more confidence that it’s not a sham marriage. Don’t think they won’t employ these kinds of things to see how you’ll react… immigration & customs are well known for such tactics.
