EP salary threshold

Post by musical box » Thu, 17 Apr 2025 1:36 pm

Scenario 1:
My employment contract is Jan 1 to June 30, 2025.
Salary 14k month.
EP to 31 Dec 2025.
My company proposes 4 day week from 01 July 2025 to Dec 31 2025.
12k month (this is above the threshold of $11,500 age 45 and above).
Do I or my company need to inform MOM?
//
Scenario 2:
my new salary (11,200 sgd) is slightly below the threshold of $11,500 age 45 and above, for said period July 1 to Dec 31 2025.
Do I or my company need to inform MOM?
//
age 68.

If an employer is hiring you under EP, the responsibility belongs to your employer. This between them and MOM.

The employer needs to know this stuff. If you know more than them, then that is a real problem, but it’s their problem, not yours.

For Scenario 1, since the revised salary (12k) is still above the qualifying threshold for your age group, there’s typically no need to notify MOM unless there are other material changes to your job role or conditions.

For Scenario 2, since the new salary (11.2k) falls below the threshold of $11,500 for your age bracket (68), your company must notify MOM, and it could potentially affect the validity of your EP depending on the overall evaluation. It’s advisable for your HR to check directly with MOM to avoid compliance issues.
