Certificate of Clearance needed; No idea of my FIN

Post by SMcD » Wed, 16 Apr 2025 1:27 am

Hi all,

I am applying for Australian citizenship but need a Certificate of Clearance from Singapore as I lived there for 2 years in the early 1980's. I was an army wife (since divorced) so entry, living arrangements and all documentation were organised by the NZ Army, so have no idea if I had a FIN or Identity Card or indeed anything.
Being 40+ years ago, I don't have my original passport.

I have emailed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who directed me to the Singapore Police, who have not responded.
Any ideas on how I can get a COC, or go about it?

Thanks in advance,
Susan

You probably didn't have a FIN as a NZ army wife. Have you spoken to the NZ Army to see if they can advise if they can provide a COC from their MP's?
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

more:

Someone on this forum found a way to locate old FINs but I don't know how they did it. It may be worth ringing the Singapore High Comm in Canberra or Auckland and asking them?

The COC stuff is painful - particularly in certain countries where they really don't want to help. You may have to engage a solicitor here in Singapore to help.
